12/3 - onward Fruita!

Short drive from Durango to Fruita today.

Still, even with that, the late start prevented riding. Too bad, would have been good.

Slept ok last night, then packing up the crap and getting stuff ready for the visit with Fruita.

My long day yesterday is catching up with me. Points scored for Sobe Essentials energy drinks, they work better than coffee with less negative effects.

Surfer and his Mrs have a really nice place. They're like two blocks from downtown. Their beagles are friendly too, so all is good.

So, coffee installed in brain, gear loaded, bikes up, and off we went for a leisurely drive down 550.

Beautiful drive today. Highway 550 through the mountains all the way baby ...

Checked in with Over The Edge Sports in Fruita, then got our sleeping accomodations nailed down (thanks 'surfer!), got some dinner, and now more of this stupid computer stuff before crashing.

The first operational snowplow I've seen in years (Austin doesn't have plows)...

...and the road turned up quickly after we passed Purgatory...

...and soon it was obvious that Old Man Winter was hiding up here somewhere...

...but Colorado delivered a very serious message for all motorists...

...just before we got to Molas Pass (see, this is bike related after all)...

...and the travellers were noted as present...

...and shortly saw true evidence of winter...

...and soon started to close on the valley which is headed by Ouray...

...but were to find one last sample of wondrous winter...

...before stumbling upon the small herd of bighorn just below the snow level (cool!)

Tomorrow? Kokopelli Loops, probably by 9 or 10 am, but there's no alarm set ...
