Maps

Since 2000, I have been “collecting” trail maps of various places. Some by using a GPS receiver, and some by even lazier means.

Currently my favorite GPSr to use is my Garmin Edge 705 that Wife gave me in 2007. It has a surprisingly accurate receiver, and records data with great frequency such that even very serpentine trail is well represented. My backup device is a  GPSMAP60CSx – it has been a faithful travelling companion since, oh, maybe 2003.

For post-processing on my computer I use a mixture of Garmin MapSource, TopoFusion, National Geographic Topo!, Paint.NET, Google Earth, and XEmacs.

Watch this space for developments, I’ll be resurrecting my various gps-recorded maps and providing tracklogs, topographic maps (JPG), and other forms of data for your nerdy bikishness to enjoy.
